The student-athletes below have distinguished themselves and were
​being honored at a special luncheon on Thursday May 21, 2026

Avery Lustgarten, Garnet Valley HS

Joseph Cirilli Memorial
​Distinguished Athlete Award

  Avery Lustgarten earned 12 varsity letters in track and field and cross country. She is a two-time PIAA Championships qualifier and two-time All-Delco in cross country. She carries a 4.0
unweighted GPA and was active in Gardening Club (as president), Letters for Rose (as outreach coordinator) and as a member of the
Garnet Valley Athletic Advisory Board, as well as volunteering with the Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPS) and as a Medical Diet Aide at
Granite Farms Retirement Community. She’ll run cross country next year at Lehigh University.

Sofia Gagliardi, Episcopal Academy

Outstanding Female Scholar Athlete

  Sofia Gagliardi was named Daily Times Girls Soccer Player of the Year for leading Episcopal
Academy to Inter-Ac and PAISAA Championships in the fall. She was a four-time
state medalist in indoor track in the winter, though lacrosse is her best sport. She was a
second-team All-Delco last spring as EA compiled an undefeated season. She will
continue her lacrosse career at Maryland.

Mikey Mita, Penncrest HS

Most Courageous Athlete Award

  Mikey Mita is a two-time All-Delco and 1,000-point scorer at Penncrest. He suffered an eye injury in a District 1 Class 5A quarterfinal game this year but returned to play in the state tournament, the Lions reaching the second round. He will continue his career at Carnegie Mellon University.

Paxton Hunt, Garnet Valley HS

Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete

  Paxton Hunt was an All-Delco in both football and wrestling as a senior. On the gridiron, the 
running back/linebacker was a Mini Maxell Award winner and the Central League’s Defensive Player of the Year, as voted by league coaches.
He won a silver medal at the PIAA Class 3A tournament at 215 pounds to cap a season that included Central League, District 1 South and
Southeast Regional Championships. Originally a Franklin & Marshall football signee, Hunt will wrestle next year at West Virginia.
